Hey there, my name is Ashley. I live in the U.S.A., on the east coast not too horribly far from the water. I live with way too many cats but they’re hilarious, so they’re tolerable (most of the time). How a 60+ year old house deals with them all, since most of them are barely a year old, I haven’t a clue. I’m just thankful it does. I love taking pictures, playing video games, reading books, writing, and bothering a friend of mine every Sunday, whether we end up going to church or not. And, between you and me, I’m more of a dog person than a cat person. But don’t tell my cats that! (They’re already trying to kill me in my sleep, I swear it.)

Alistair is Sleepy Kitten’s mascot. He has dark (natural) blue fur with light blue markings. He has two socks on his front feet, stockings on his back feet, light blue fur on the lower part of his chest and belly, and a mustache. He is actually based slightly off one of my real-life cats, Smiley.

SKP’s Mascot

Sleepy Kitten Productions started back when I was in middle school, only then it was called Walking Tea Party Productions. (The name is a story for another time.) Back then it was mostly just horrible stick figure movies and some drawings I used to do. Over time WTPP became a hassle because the name was too long and for a long time it had no purpose.

By the time it came back in business last year (2011), I had changed the name to Clever Cougar Productions. CCP was used for hand-made birthday cards for the most part, and generally didn’t get very far because I just never felt the connection to the name.

So finally, in 2012, the name has changed (hopefully for the last time) to Sleepy Kitten Productions. The significance of this name is simply that I love my kittens most when they’re sleeping. And, since they have some very strange but cute ways and places they like to sleep, I figured I’d go with SKP.

I know, I know—it sounds like a horrible name for a tavern, doesn’t it? “The Sleepy Kitten.” But that’s not really the point. A name is only half of a blog! The other half is how much rum you’re drinking while writing it. (I’m kidding!) TSK was a vision I had recently when I started thinking about all the things that are going on that no one seems to know about or, if they do, don’t understand. Take the NDAA for example. That was passed right under our noses. But don’t worry, I’m trying to make the blog as comical as possible while still keeping you informed.
